Mary, Mary Quite Contrary

Mary, Mary Quite Contrary, is a devised musical drawing on Early Modern witch trial testimonies and Sylvia Federici’s ‘Caliban and the Witch’. The performance piece blends history, movement, storytelling and comedy to examine how European witch hunts have shaped contemporary western society.

We opened this piece with two sell-out shows at the Cockpit Theatre, as part of Voila Festival, with costumes by Nick Ashley (Designer of Dunhill; Private White VC), choreography by Gaby Agis (ENO) and original music by Hugo Hamlet and Voo Le Voo.
